January offers a great chance for New Jersey area darters to play in two back-to-back weekend tournaments.
-January 9-11, 2009, the $26,500.00+ Rae Chesney English Dart Tournament, in North Philadelphia, Pa.
-January 16-18, the $10,000.00 New York/New Jersey Open, in Long Island, NY.
Both are open to the dart playing public and within an easy drive for New Jersey area darters. The Philadelphia tournament brings in great players from around the country not to mention Philly's finest. The NY/NJ Open is also a fun tournament with great competition. Until then, good darts!

Keivn,
Hey i was wondering how big is the Philly tournament? I' am first year shooter in a league in New Jersey. I'am not that bad, but I just trying to get a feel, how many big guns show up. I dont want to get my door blown off in my first ever tournament.
Most of the big guns on the American Circuit show up, but a lot of local shooters compete as well. However, that is the best reason for a beginner to go. Seeing the good guys play really brings your game up. If you don't feel comfortable competing in the singles events you can watch and learn. I would recommend that you compete in the blind draw doubles events. They are specifically there to encourage beginners to play. You sign up by yourself and get a random doubles partner for the event. It is entirely possible for a beginner to draw a great partner and win it. Also, if you have a bad night that is OK too. The important thing is that it gets you out seeing high level darts and getting the feel for what tournaments are like. They also have vendors there and you can check out the latest equipment, etc. Definitely go!
