Women's 501 Singles Report

Stacy Bromberg completed a sweep of the Women's Singles events with a 2-1 victory over Carolyn Mars in the finals of the Women's 501 Singles at the Rae Chesney Memorial Tournament in Philadelphia on Sunday. Stacy won the cork and the start in the first leg but Carolyn quickly took the lead, opening with scores of 70, 100, 100, and 85. After reducing her score to 40, Carolyn closed the leg against the darts with her third try at double 20, while Stacy sat back on 145.

Carolyn won the cork and the start for the second leg. Carolyn opened with 60, but Stacy was scoring well, opening with scores of 140, 94, 81, and 95 to leave 91 after twelve darts. Carolyn was back at 220 and Stacy looked to have the game well in hand. However, Stacy busted the 91 with an errant triple 20 while attempting the single. The next two rounds, Stacy was unable to take out the remainder, and Carolyn reduced her score to 65. Stacy's third dart at double 12
missed the inside wire, giving Carolyn a match shot. Carolyn's first dart scored 25 on the single bull, but her two shots at double tops for the match flew high. Stacy's nerves held, as she hit single 6, miss, and then double 3 to stay alive.

Stacy won the cork and the start for the third and deciding leg. After twelve darts, Stacy was on 143 and hit a score of 119 to leave 24. Carolyn's scoring was faltering, and she was still not on an out. Stacy scored 18 the next round, hitting single 12, single 6, to leave 6 left. Carolyn was unable to pressurize the shot, and Stacy hit double 3 again on her first dart for a 19 dart game and the Women's Singles 501 Title.
